Mass exports to xml file wrong
-
Hi Devs,
I have a simple Max 2012 model with a 1 meter cube. The cube has a MassFX Rigid Body modifier added. The density is 1 and in Max the mass value shows correct at 1000kg. Good so far. Then I exported an xml file from that scene. Again the density is 1 but the mass is 1kg not 1000kg. How do I fix this problem? Autodesk says it is an Nvidia problem not theirs.Your title here...

You misunderstood the units. You assume it is Kg/m^3. The density is fixed to g/cm^3 due to the limited width of the 3dsMax GUI. When you convert between these units you will see that 1000 is correct. It is pretty easy to find density tables in g/cm^3. Sorry for the confusion. I think you would have had to go to the docs for this explanation under density.

It amazes me how you assume you understand the problem and give the same response I’ve heard before. I understand the different units for density is a factor of 1000. Density is not the problem. The documentation says the GUI shows mass in kg. If I have a 1000kg object in Max how come I can’t get the xml file to export that object with a mass of 1000kg? Mass, Mass, Mass. Oh and Inertia Tensers are wrong too. Try it. The old plug-in exported correctly but I have not seen a plug-in for Max 2012.
