Extremely disappointed with
a) the ubuntu installation instructions
b) the log generating instructions
Is it assumed knowledge how to copy this bug report to a usb?
b) is incomplete
a) could be tested by any idiot with ubuntu to show they are extremely poor instructions.
that a company with a trillion dollar market cap can’t hire a minimum wage employee to test their instructions with a box of GPUs is mind blowing.
How embarrassing. I’m mad at what an easily preventable failure this is.
Please assist as I will have to return this GPU if I don’t get support’s attention and begrudgingly try a different company.
Here’s the turn of events:
I currently have old GPU in PC.
gcc installed
downloaded as instrcuted by
2.7. Download the NVIDIA CUDA Toolkit
Base Installer
Installation Instructions:
wget [redacted-as-new-users-can-only-put-one-link-in-post]/compute/cuda/repos/ubuntu2204/x86_64/cuda-keyring_1.0-1_all.deb
sudo dpkg -i cuda-keyring_1.0-1_all.deb
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get -y install cuda
removed Outdated Signing Key: or at least did what it said to do in terms of:
sudo apt-key del xxxxxxx when it instructed
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install cuda
sudo apt-get install nvidia-gds
sudo reboot
system doesnt boot with old or new graphics card.
No idea what to do
The terminal flashes for a HALF A SECOND and I managed to film some error codes, but the frame rate is too slow to disamiguate…
I think I read:
“Failed to start nvidia persistence daemon”
Is that a docker reference? “daemon”?
Only a TTY terminal to work with.
Please help me recover my computer with or without the new GPU. What a horrorshow.
