2x Quadro 2000 | nvidia-driver-390.141 | Kernel 5.10.15

Hello,
I have two video cards and just got the kernel driver installed properly. When attempting to adjust displays in nvidia-settings it says the screen on the second gpu are disabled. After enabling them. It tells me I have to reboot. I have to save the xorg.conf and restart x. It will then either boot to a blank screen across all displays with a mouse cursor or will display only a flashing console cursor on only the primary display. I then have to reboot and go to vt to delete the xorg.conf.

Previously It had issues with being finicky. I can confirm it had worked previously in Arch.

I have made progress. If I enable the display without turning on Basic Mosaic, and Xinirama. It will enable the display but on a different X Session. I can then use Xrandr to rotate the display. Set background and open Apps… but It’s not one unified desktop.

The tutorial I followed for nvidia recommended making a xorg.conf.d/ folder with nvidia.conf. the drivers also created a nvidia-390.conf which added the nvidia-drm chunk. I have yet to test this.

On several occasions. I have locked the system up. Have had to reboot. and once had to boot to optical disk to recover the /etc/X11/xorg.conf

I don’t think this legacy driver is fully supporting a 5.10 kernel.

https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/linux-solaris-and-freebsd-driver-390-141-legacy-for-gf1xx-fermi-gpus/165427/2

Says adjustments were made to be compatible with a 5.8 kernel.
Might worth trying with a 5.8 kernel.

It working. I’m using it right now on one video card. It has something to do with the fact I have to video cards, Was having similar issues in Arch but I was able to get it to work. I just can’t recall how.

Sounds like you want to create a BaseMosaic config.
Please run nvidia-bug-report.sh as root and attach the resulting nvidia-bug-report.log.gz file to your post.

I have tried enabling basicmosaic in settings but when I start X it locks up. Simply enabling the display and restarting X will get me a second X session but I am unable to drag windows between displays. Enabling basicmosaic or xinerama will cause X to lock up on boot or entering gdm.

Please try disabling iommu when using basemosaic, either in bios or using iommu=off kernel parameter.
Please run nvidia-bug-report.sh as root and attach the resulting nvidia-bug-report.log.gz file to your post.

I was able to enable xinarama but i had to switch from using gdm to lightdm and then it would work after some fiddling.Enabling basic mosaic doesn’t work either.
when xinarama was enable maximizing windows would span all desktops and I couldn’t reposition my displays.

Disabling iommu=off made it impossible for me to unlock my luks device at boot.
