346.22 [Ubuntu] Backlight stops working with proprietary driver

I’m using Ubuntu 14.10 x64 clean install, and have tried multiple nVidia driver versions for my 670MX. All of which stop the backlight brightness functioning.

Because of this, the screen is exceptionally blinding and the nVidia colour correction leaves much to be desired in addressing this.

Is it even possible to get backlight working? I could always easily fix this on my old AMD chip.

Hi, Turbine1991. I’ve been having the same issue with Quadro 2000m, see this thread https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/539462/linux/-nvidia-319-12-brightness-controls-not-working-on-laptop-ubuntu-13-03-. There are some workarounds mentioned there that you can try, like installing nvidiabl. You can also try installing older 304.xx series driver, which is what I ended up doing after none of the solutions worked for my system. I’ve send them a bug report back in March, and so far, NVIDIA hasn’t fixed this bug in new drivers.
