3D Structure IO Sensor

After a lot of effort and some help from github, I have the NIViewer working. I can see what the camera sees in this application now I want to use OpenCV preferably in Python on the image. I am hoping that someone can help me with next steps to access the camera in Python. Any suggestions on what to do next?

Thank you,
Paul

Hi thomas.p.16,

Please refer to below topic:
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/1025356/how-to-capture-and-display-camera-video-with-python-on-jetson-tx2/

Thanks

I have previously used this post to get a USB web camera to work. The Structure IO sensor does not show up as a video device. I have no idea what steps to take next to access this particular camera.

Thank you,

Paul

Hi thomas.p.16,

Could you share more info about this device? Are you able to run it on tegra now?

If yes, do you know what interface it is using? What client app are you using on L4T? Is it open source?

If yes, can you paste the link?

I started here and used Github as a guide. I can get their viewer app to work so yes it does work. I haven’t had enough time to see how I can get the image data into Python or CPP.

The technology is similar to Microsoft Kinect and maybe this software would also work for that since the imager itself is made by one company. I have a Kinect so I may try that as well.

I did a quick look into this project. However, they didn’t reveal how they read the frame in the sample. It should already be in their SDK.

Please ask for help from openNI.
