4addr mode on wifi interface

I’m trying to set up a client-side bridge between the TX1’s wired and wireless network interfaces, so that when wifi is connected to an access point, other wired devices can reach the remote host on the same subnet. (NATting is not workable in our situation.)

This requires setting the wifi device to 4-address mode, as described here:

The TX1 accepts the command “iw wlan0 set 4addr on” and allows setting up the bridge. However, 4-address mode doesn’t seem to actually be active - the access point doesn’t see any 4addr frames, nor are there any in tcpdump / wireshark.

Is there any known reason the TX1 can’t do 4-address mode? Is it not supported in the wifi hardware?

Full MAC is enabled in WI-Fi chip and 4address mode is not enabled due to memory constraints in chip.
