It’s happening again updating to nvidia-570.133.07-5 on arch. Same thing, Unity editor crashes after the splash screen. Only happening with Vulkan.
Can someone clue me in what’s going on here? This is the 3rd time. Since when does Unity require to play catch up with nvidia drivers? I really don’t understand.
Furthermore, how am I not able to fix this with downgrading? I’m downgrading all packages to a specific date yet this problem persists. Really hard to find out what’s going on. The crash report in case it helps anyone:
Thread 0x79ed177ff6c0 may have been prematurely finalized* Assertion at mono-threads.c:702, condition `info' not met, function:mono_thread_info_current,
An error has occured in the native fault reporting. Some diagnostic information will be unavailable.

Hello. Seems there’s a regression in 32bit drivers with reporting power usage in mW.
mangohud issue here: GPU power draw shows wrong numbers with 32bit applications · Issue #1607 · flightlessmango/MangoHud · GitHub
paste with mangohud debug about random numbers:
64bit s unaffected.
570.124.04 and 570.133.07 both have the regression. (not sure about older 570 versions)

can confirm this issue under Portal 2 as well.
I’m having increasing levels of seemingly random driver crashing, causing me to have to sysrq to reboot, screens go black and no output and cant switch TTY.

On another note, I never used to have this issue before but i have a heater next to me and if i accidentally kick it sometimes the power dips and causes my monitor to flicker, it’s always done this and been able to recover but now since like 570 the driver crashes every time without fail when it happens. What gives?

Are these memory allocation bugs ever getting fixed? Nevermind the horribly bad VRAM issues, I’m now getting DMESG errors about a use-after-free:

Suspend is still broken on open drivers on 570.
Maybe only a multi-monitor issue, but my main display never wakes up after waking up the computer. Switching back to the closed drivers does work fine however.
Here is the bug report from within repro state (captured on my second monitor whilst my main monitor was not working) nvidia-bug-report.log.gz (380.3 KB)
I can also recover the main screen by unplugging and replugging it back in. This is extremely tedious though.
I’m seeing corrupted menus in steam big picture and sometimes in from the drop down menus in steam.

This is a known issue with Nvidia, you need to disable hardware acceleration for Steam unfortunately (then Big Picture becomes very shoppy).

Is the 5060ti supported by this driver? Thinking about grabbing one tomorrow.
Irrelevant. This has been a continuous problem on several different versions of the driver. Including the latest (newer) production branch deiver

No, you will have to wait for a new driver
oh nice got released already Driver Details | NVIDIA
" * Fixed a bug that could cause the applications that use the VK_KHR_present_wait extension to hang on Wayland."
Glad to see this is finally out of the Vulkan-Beta drivers.
I assume the " COLOR_ENCODING and COLOR_RANGE" changes will let an HDR Wayland session set color spaces properly?

Update:
The bug I reported about ctm freeze looks to be fixed on 575. Thanks for your work!
With 575.51.02 drivers it reports 8mW with 32bit applications. 64bit unaffected

can confirm that instead of power draw readings being extremely large, they are now extremely small, too small to be displayed through MangoHud. Debug shows small values like yours.

It just hasn’t been pinned yet:
NVIDIA has released Linux x64 (AMD64/EM64T) Display Driver 575.51.02 BETA.
Changelog:
Extended the __NV_DISABLE_EXPLICIT_SYNC environment variable, which was available to EGL applications, to also apply to GLX and Vulkan applications.

This is still the 570.133.07 for me.
I think the packages libnvidia-egl-xcb1
and libnvidia-egl-xlib1
on the Debian 12 repos need to be updated to version 570.133.20, as they are still version 570.124.06
