About the Directivity of the rec_microstrip_patch Antenna

I configured the RU antenna as a rec_microstrip_patch and the UE antenna as isotropic. To observe the antenna characteristics of the RU, I calculated the radio wave intensity at randomly positioned UEs within a hemisphere and visualized the results. The RU is positioned at the center of the hemisphere and is oriented towards the front. Additionally, the number of scene interactions per ray is set to 0. The visualized image is based on these settings. Green represents the maximum radio wave intensity, transitioning to red as the intensity decreases. Areas where the intensity is -3 dBm or more below the maximum are displayed entirely in red.
I expected the distribution to show a radial decrease in intensity from the center, but the observed distribution appears in a figure-eight pattern.
Why does this kind of distribution occur?
If there are any additional settings or parameters needed to determine the cause, please let me know, and I will provide them.

@takanori.yatsunami021 Thank you for sharing the analysis. We are investigating it and will update you as soon as we have a conclusion.

Thank you

I am calculating the received power using the following method:

Obtaining CFR: The channel frequency response (CFR, H(f)) is obtained from measurement or simulation data.(cfr_re, cfr_im)

Calculating the amplitude: The amplitude for each frequency component is calculated using the real and imaginary parts of the CFR.

Calculating the power spectrum: The power of each frequency component is calculated by squaring the amplitude.

Summing the power of all frequency components: The total received power for the channel is obtained by summing the power of all frequency components.

Converting to dBm: The calculated power is converted to dBm, and the result is recorded.

Is this calculation method correct?

Additionally, is it possible to retrieve received power metrics like RSRP, which are calculated in AODT, directly from the database?

@takanori.yatsunami02
Sorry for the delay. Can you please share additional information:

  1. What is the number of Tx and Rx antenna?
  2. What is the mechanical azimuth and tilt on the RU?

@kpasad1

  1. There is one Tx antenna and one Rx antenna.
  2. Both the mechanical azimuth and tilt on the RU are 0 degrees.

I hope this issue gets resolved. Thank you.

@takanori.yatsunami021 Can you check if polarization is disabled?

@kpasad1
This simulation result was obtained with polarization disabled.
A similar intensity distribution was obtained even when polarization was enabled.

@takanori.yatsunami021 Thanks, we will try to replicate these results.
