Adding Surface Velocity in USD Composer

Hello,

I am using USD Composer to animate the conveyor belt. I have added Physics > Rigid Body with Colliders Preset and enabled both Kinematic Enabled: On and Velocities in Local Space: On.

I am trying to add Surface Velocity to conveyor belt mesh. However, Surface Velocity is not listed under Physic menu.

Do I need to enable any other settings for adding Surface Velocity? Is it supported in USD Composer?

Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi,
the explicit surface velocity was added as a new feature for 106 based release, so it would be available in latest IsaacSim 4.1.0.

Prior to the surface velocity, setting a regular velocity on a kinematic body would have the same effect. This should still work in latest releases, however it has been marked as deprecated and the new surface velocity should be used.

Quick question. Does that mean surface velocity is not available in Composer but only in Issac Sim? Is that correct?

In addition to that, is there any comparison chart or document that says what is the extend of simulation I can do in Composer and when should I switch to Issac Sim; because Issac Sim requires a huge workstation setup.

The new explicit surface velocity was introduced with 106.x version of omni.physx, that version is currently available fully only in IsaacSim, it will be available also in Composer based kit app template once those extensions are published, which will happen this month.

Anyway current Composer App is based on 105.x releases so it wont get this update.
Regards,
Ales
