After a few days, Samsung TV connected to my NVidia ION via Onkyo receiver reports "Mode Not Supported" when receiver input is changed to NVidia output

NVidia HW: ION (C79)
Connected through Onkyo TX-SR607 as HDMI repeater
To Samsung LN52B530 TV

After a few days with the receiver set to another input, when I go back to the NVidia as an input, the TV reports “Mode Not Supported” and displays nothing. Only way I have found to correct is power cycle or pushing reset button.

Correction: A LightDM restart will also correct the problem.
