After updating and rebooting my Ubuntu 18.04 system, my Nvidia driver seems to be broken. The screen resolution remains 800x600 when I launch Ubuntu, and I’m unable to change it. When booting into Windows, I do not have this problem.

NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.
I’ve tried uninstalling via purge nvidia* and reinstalling multiple times with several different drivers. Please help. I’ve attached a bug report.
