After upgrading form 14.04 to 16.04 freezes nothing happens.

Hi,

I have bought my new TX2 on May 2018.
Just now I have updated to 16.04 from 14.04.

I guess now this USB3.0 port is not working,
where I have connected my Keyboard and mouse.

Could anyone please tell me how to solve this problem.

Can I reinstall everything like a factory setting on the TX2, if so
how do I do it.

Or how to fix this problem keeping the 16.04

Thanks!
Mathi

Hi Mathi, did you do the upgrade by re-flashing with JetPack, or was the upgrade done by Ubuntu (either from the Unity GUI or apt dist-upgrade). Having Ubuntu do the upgrade will break the L4T BSP, so you need to have JetPack do it by re-flashing the device with the latest JetPack, which will install 16.04 on the device.

Hi dusty_nv,

I have upgraded from the Ubuntu from GUI.

Could you please tell me how to do “need to have JetPack do it by re-flashing the device with the latest JetPack”

Right now, I can not even use the terminal, since it is not recognizing the USB3.0 port, I suppose.

Could you please tell me how do it proceed from here and solve this issue.

Thanks,
Mathi

First, download JetPack 3.3 to your host PC. Then following the Developer Kit User Guide, connect the Jetson to your host PC with the provided micro-USB cable, enter your Jetson into Recovery mode, and run the JetPack application from your host PC.

Thanks!

So I should something like what I did in the beginning when I bought my TX1/TX2,
like I download the JetPack x.x on my host pc and follow the installation instructions.

If I do that, will get my target to be run again on 16.04 ?

Kind regards,
Mathi

That is correct, yes.

Yes, Ubuntu 16.04 will be the OS installed to your Jetson since JetPack 3.1 version (IIRC).

Hi,

Thanks!

I have tried to install Jetpack 3.1, JetPack 3.2.1 and JetPack 3.3.

But I am getting the following error for all of them:

###############################################################################

L4T BSP Information:

R28 (release), REVISION: 2.1, GCID: 11272647, BOARD: t186ref, EABI: aarch64,

DATE: Thu May 17 07:29:06 UTC 2018

###############################################################################
Error: probing the target board failed.
Make sure the target board is connected through
micro-B USB port and is in recovery mode.

As I have mentioned before, the problem is TX2 board does not recognize the USB 3.0 and 2.0.

But at least I can see the lsusb:
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 011: ID 0955:7721 NVidia Corp.

Could you please help me with this!

Thanks!
Mathi

Are you using a VM? If so, then VMs have problems with USB.
