AGX Orin cannot be powered on at 55 ° C

Dear ALL,
I am using the AGX Orin and AGX Orin Industrial modules, and the upper operating temperature of both modules exceeds 80 ° C under the datasheet. However, I found that when the temperature reached 55℃, the module could not be turned on. The temperature went down and returned to normal.

I saw in the forum that TX1 has a default protection temperature. Does AGX Orin have the same default protection temperature as TX1? Is there a patch that can lift this restriction?

Hi Jerry-W,

Are you using the devkit or custom board for AGX Orin?
What’s your Jetpack version in use?

How did you get this result?

Thank you for your reply, I am using the customized carrier board, L4T 35.5.
I tested it, and after two hours at 55 ° C, it won’t start. When the temperature drops, it becomes normal.

Is there any UART log coming out from your boot failure or it just gave nothing?

Attached is boot log.
session12.log (39.6 KB)

 155 [0000.823] I> max temp read = 71
 156 [0000.826] I> min temp read = 70

The sensor result tells this temperature is 70C. Not 55C.

Also, it got stuck in UEFI.

Could you test this issue with NV devkit too and see if you can reproduce?

If it cannot, please enable UEFI debug log and reproduce issue + dump log again.

Thank you for your help, we will test on devkit and report the results in time.

I put the module on NVIDIA’s devkit and it still doesn’t boot. Attached is the startup log.

It looks like this is a Orin AGX module. Does your issue only happen to this module?

Could you reflash the board on this devkit?

If the issue is still there, please enable UEFI logs as currently it got stuck in UEFI stage.

Yes, I’m using the AGX Orin Industrial module. I have used the SDKManager reflash module and the SDK version is 5.1.3.

I’m not connected to the screen right now. You mentioned ‘enable UEFI logs’, is it in the UEFI menu? So I have to press the ESC key when the device is turned on?

I don’t know how many log files are in there. Can you tell me in advance which log I should get?

You need to rebuild the UEFI from source code and there is debug version.

Replace the release version binary with debug version and reflash this board again.
