Agx orin Simple USB Type A Connection Example

the AGX Orin design guide suggests the following simple USB Type A connection:

Does the AGX Orin support High-Power SS USB mode in this configuration? from a power supply perspective our board can supply this, I just don’t know enough about USB power negotiation to tell if following that design is feasible.

Ultimately my goal is just to power a ~4 W USB 3 device over the port. I know that the module supports USB Battery Charging 1.2 which does provide enough power but I’m not sure if that is a solution that applies. Any insight into this problem would be very helpful, including comments about potential software/driver/device tree requirements/changes.

Not quite sure about your question. This photo already told you “USB SS” in the connector in blue one.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply!

My question is specifically related to the power negotiation. I’m not super familiar with the USB standard, and I’m wondering if I wire it up in that fashion if the agx orin will allow the device to draw 900 mA. (again assuming the 5V source has been designed to allow for that).

Do you mean Orin devkit or custom board? If devkit, the output current could be up to 2A. If custom board, it depends on the load switch choosed for USB_VBUS and the capability of the 5V to load switch.
