Are Parellel Prefix scan reduction and Parallel prefix sum the same?

Hi,

Is there any difference between Parallel Prefix scan reduction and Parallel prefix sum ? I am a little bit confused on the nomenclature.

‘Prefix sum’ and ‘scan’ are two terms for the same thing.
