Black screen when resuming systemctl-suspend, using nvidia-driver-470.57.02 with kernel 5.8.0-63-generic on GTX 970, xubuntu 20.04 LTS

I see. I usually just enable automatically suspend (when idle) after 1h in GNOME settings. Sometimes, if testing a fix, I initiate suspend via the GUI.

I will need to upgrade my driver version and reboot to create the bug report you requested. Also, are you expecting the log to be created in the same boot cycle that fails to resume? Usually the machine is completely unresponsive but I can try to access it via SSH.

Yes, I am expecting you to capture bug report from same boot cycle.
System should be accessible via ssh.

Hello,
hope this helps. I could suspend my computer with “sudo pm-suspend”.
Since january 17th a kernel update has been done and now even that command doesn’t work. Same symptoms as systemctl… and gui suspend.

Driver still is 470.86, kernel is now 5.13.0-25-generic #26~20.04.1-Ubuntu SMP.

I’ve sent nvidia-bug-report-log.gz to the specified email.

Here’s a cut/paste on the kernel udate on january 17th:

Thanks for the update, but I guess you forgot to attach nvidia bug report here. Please help to attach the same.

here’s the bug report.

Hi @amrits
This issue happened to me.
I had a 2nd monitor connected (HDMI) and the lid closed. I suspended via ui (Gnome).
Then I opened the lid. The hdmi monitor was ok. The laptop screen was black.
I have the laptop in Didicated GPU mode (via BIOS)
Xorg consumes less CPU (0.5) in Dedicated GPU mode .vs ~3.0 in Optimus mode

Precision T7610 + Ubuntu 20.04 LTS + 5.13.0-28-generic + Driver 510.54 + GeForce GTX 950 + Display BenQ EL2870U with resolution 3840 x 2160

We will be debugging issue on our local setup and will keep updated on it.
