Blackscreen after GRUB on multiple distros

nvidia-bug-report.log.gz (299.9 KB)

My system is a desktop PC with a 4070, further details in the inxi output at the bottom.

This has happened in both Manjaro and Mint Linux. Most recently I did a fresh install of Manjaro and chose the proprietary drivers option. Grub loads fine and I am able to boot into Manjaro but shortly after that my monitor stops registering any input. I am unable to view a TTY while in this state. I am able to boot by plugging my hdmi cable directly into my motherboard but nothing I have tried has enabled me to use my GPU.

I have tried everything I can find online but nothing seems to resolve it
a short list of the things I remember trying:

  • removing the splash quiet from the kernel options
  • disabling plymouth
  • enabling “Above 4G decoding” and disabling CSM in my bios
  • booting with “nomodset”

Below I have included the output of the inxi command in case it can be of use:

For what it’s worth, I tried using a displayport cable after reading some other users had success doing so and it worked right away. This is no longer urgent for me but if anybody knows why the hdmi wasn’t working I’d be interested to hear it.
