[BlueField3 FW platform install issue] MLNX_OFED install fail on ubuntu22.04 USB device

Hi Sir:

I am currently using the Ubuntu 22.04 operating system. To update the BlueField3 firmware, I am attempting to install the MLNX_OFED environment.

However, during the installation process, I encountered a failure indicating missing packages, and I am unsure about how to install these packages.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that we have installed the same OS version on different storage devices, specifically, USB and M.2 storage.

Interestingly, the MLNX installation process succeeded on the M.2 device but failed on the USB.

Is there any difference in the installation process based on whether the OS is installed on USB or M.2 storage?

Hello f8010991,

Thank you for posting your inquiry on the NVIDIA Developer Forum - Infrastructure and Networking - Section.

Even though we do not test nor validate installation of MLNX_OFED on a data carrier, the installation of the driver on a USB which is provisioned with an OS is the same as the installation as the driver on a regular HD, SSD or NVME M2 SSD.

The error msg shows that you are missing a package and that should be part of the provisioned OS on the USB data carrier.

Thank you and regards,
