Boot sequence stuck before loading display manager - Two nvidia cards in debian

I have a Dell Precision T7600, running Debian 12 (kernel 6.1.0-21-amd64) with Wayland. I have been using it for a while with a Nvidia GeForce GT 520 using nouveau, as the required nvidia drivers are not supported after Debian 11.

I added a Nvidia Tesla M60, with intended use for scientific computing. I followed the local repo nvidia installation instructions, which I completed up to the reboot in section 3.10.4.

After booting, the boot sequence gets stuck and the gnome display manager is never loaded. All I get is a blinking cursor.

I would appreciate any guidance/ideas/things to look at. Let me know what extra information I should provide.

That’s not really a recommended or supported setup, mixing two nvidia gpus needing different driver versions. Installing the current nvidia driver for the M60 will now leave the GT520 without driver, falling back to fbdev. Since the M60 now has a drm driver, the graphics will likely run on it as virtual graphics. Rather replace the GT520 with something else.
