Hello,

I would like to explore the possibility of creating a bootable Drive OS image on an external storage device (e.g., USB, NVMe SSD, or SD card) and configuring the system to boot from that external media instead of the internal memory.

My queries for this are:

  1. External Boot Support: Does Drive Orin support booting from an external storage device such as a USB drive, NVMe SSD, or SD card? If so, which interfaces (USB, PCIe, etc.) support booting?

  2. Bootloader Configuration: Since the initial BootROM execution is fixed to internal storage, is there a supported method to modify the UEFI bootloader to redirect the kernel and root filesystem loading to an external device?

  3. Boot Order Modification: Can the UEFI settings be modified to prioritize external storage? If yes, are there specific UEFI commands or boot configuration changes required?

  4. Flashing Process: If external boot is possible, what would be the recommended process for flashing and configuring Drive OS on an external device?

It is not supported.
May I know why are you looking for this. You want to increasing storage space?

May i know the challenges, as this feature is supported on Jetson Orin developer kits.
We wanted OS backup on external media so that it can be reused for other orin kits.

Hi @SivaRamaKrishnaNV,

Can you please respond for the query?

Dear @saurabh.sinalkar ,
The Jetson SW releases are different from DRIVE.
AFAIU, we didn’t have this customer feature requirement with DRIVE
