Bringing multi-user Linux VDI to the DGX Spark (ThinLinc ARM64)

Hello everyone!

As more teams get their hands on the DGX Spark (guldburken), a common challenge is figuring out how to efficiently share its 128GB of unified memory and GB10 compute among multiple developers or researchers.

Our team recently got our DGX Spark in the lab, and we are currently in the testing phase for running ThinLinc Server natively on ARM64.

Historically, ThinLinc has provided high-performance, centralized Linux VDI for x86. Our goal with this project is to allow you to run a full, multi-user Linux desktop environment natively on the Spark. This means your data science team can seamlessly remote into the Spark, fire up graphical apps (like ComfyUI, Jupyter, or 3D visualization tools), and share the hardware without stepping on each other’s toes.

We are tracking our progress, porting challenges, and sharing updates over on our community forum. If you are managing DGX Spark units and want to turn them into remote, multi-user AI workstations, we’d love to hear about your specific use cases.

What GUI-heavy Linux applications are you most eager to run remotely on your Spark? Let us know below!

Quick follow up: we also opened a broader ARM64 / Grace class tester call in DGX Systems (Data Center), since the prototype is not Spark only:

Same honesty: prototype only, tested so far on Spark + Pi 5. If you have other ARM64 / linux_sbsa servers and want multi user Linux desktops, we would love early feedback via support@cendio.com (mention ARM64 prototype).
