Hello NVIDIA Team,
I followed the official cross-compilation steps for rebuilding the kernel as described in your documentation:
🔗 Compiling the Kernel - Drive OS 6.0.10
I aimed to include Broadcom WiFi driver support (brcmfmac) in the kernel. Below are the detailed steps I performed:
Steps Taken:
Generate default kernel config:
make -C kernel O=${PWD}/out-linux defconfig
Edit the configuration using menuconfig:
make -C kernel O=out-linux menuconfig
In the menu, I enabled the following options:
Device Drivers → Network device support → Wireless LAN
[M] Broadcom FullMAC WLAN driver (brcmfmac)
[M] cfg80211 - wireless configuration API
[M] mac80211 - Wireless stack (802.11n)
nl80211 new netlink interface support (auto-enabled with cfg80211)
Saved the configuration and followed the remaining steps from the official guide to compile the kernel and generate the images.
Flashed the images to the NVIDIA Drive AGX Orin using the standard flashing tools.
Issue:
After flashing, the Broadcom WiFi drivers are not available on the device.
Running modprobe brcmfmac returns: Module brcmfmac not found
lsmod shows no related wireless modules
/lib/modules/$(uname -r)/ does not contain brcmfmac.ko, cfg80211.ko, or mac80211.ko
My Expectations:
I expected the Broadcom WiFi driver and its dependencies to be included in the flashed root filesystem so I could load them via modprobe or have them autoload.
Questions:
Do I need to manually copy the compiled kernel modules into the rootfs before flashing?
Is there a post-build or packaging step required to ensure .ko files are available on the target?
Are there Drive OS-specific guidelines for deploying WiFi drivers like brcmfmac?
Should I run make modules_install? If yes, where should the output go to ensure the modules are flashed to the device?
Environment:
Target Device: NVIDIA Drive AGX Orin
Drive OS Version: 6.0.10
Host System: Ubuntu 20.04
Kernel Build: Followed steps from official documentation (link above)
I have used bootburn for flashing the kernel and it was sucessfully flashed. earlier it asked for platform config json file i have create it using Binding partition command and run the bootburn.py.
My Main question is how to enable wifi in Drive Orin AGX in 6.0.10 OS Can you please out detailed steps for same. What wrong i am doing in above steps. Pleae guide with correct steps and methods to enable wifi.
