BUG: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle only runs at ~40% of max TDP on RTX 4090

Pls disregard my previous report on broken DLSS. Not sure what caused it but it wasn’t the env variable workaround from what I can tell. Might be something specific to my system.

Found the error: Using Steam’s “Verify integrity of game files” cleared things up. DLSS is back on track.

Thanks for checking re: the DLSS issue with the workaround env variable set.
What’s your GPU model? 40Series? Mine is a 4080.

I saw people recommending DXVK_NVAPI_GPU_ARCH=GA100 to get DLSS working but I never needed that one before, DLSS worked without it on my 4080. But, now, after using __GL_13ebad=0x1, it seems to be broken and when I add DXVK_NVAPI_GPU_ARCH=GA100 it also doesn’t come back.

The option is active in the menu but, no matter the preset, things don’t change. Fps are the same for native vs. any DLSS preset.

Yeah, DLSS seems to work fine. 3060 and v550.120.
Haven’t set the DXVK env (or anything else), only __GL_13ebad.

With virtual desktop.

After some extensive testing yesterday on Windows I could reproduce the low fps again (5fps). Maybe it could be helpful on Linux too.
HDR doesn’t like framegen at the moment so disable it. I will post my settings.

RTX 4080
3.840 x 2.160
HDR off because it’s bugged
most important settings are based on vram of your gpu
texture pool size one setting higher than ultra (try low on any other gpu first)
Motion blur off
Filmgrain off
Depth of field off
Depth of field antialiasing off
Shadow quality medium
Water quality High
Pathtracing medium
Vegetazion Ultra (off give massive fps improvement play with it setting it lower if you don’t like low fps can give 50 fps more but decrease the emersion)
DLSS auto
framegen on
all other settings are maxed

restart the game to make the settings work

I’m getting around 105 - 120 fps so I decided to lock fps at 100.

My experience is smooth like no other game runs that smooth after this settings.

Yeah, I have to say this game runs amazingly well under Linux…

Yeah, can’t wait to say to the average player “hey, try it on Linux and use this and that environment”. I’ve used GNU/Linux since 2008 and I still don’t understand what these environments are and how to use them and if they relate to Steam/Proton or any obscure file in the file system. A simple search on the web engines doesn’t help. Much friendly.

It’s probably time that everyone (whoever makes drivers, Vulkan, kernel, Wayland/X11, DEs,…) tries to work together and offer a cohesive and easy solution.

It’s really easy indeed - put the command in the game properties in your Steam client or run the game like this if you are using the GOG version:

export __GL_13ebad=0x1 game.exe

Unfortunately it immediately crash with Frame Generation enabled and Proton Experimental, but it’s something.

For steam, use these launch options for the game
__GL_13ebad=0x1 DXVK_NVAPI_GPU_ARCH=GA100 %command% +com_skipIntroVideo 1

For now, AD100 seems to work better instead of GA100 for me. Frame gen makes the game crash at startup anyways, regardless of the option.

edit: for mysterious reasons, it doesn’t crash with frame gen enabled on Bluefin system.

Which proton version? Because game won’t start at all if i have AD100 set…

Proton Experimental, Proton 9-4 and Protong GE 9-21. All of them work.
I assume you have a RTX 4000 video card

I have the same issue with my mobile rtx 4060 (115W TDP) which is running only in 35W mode. Regular gaming draw is between 60-90W (avg. 85W). My fps is barely 17. My desktop PC with RX7800XT has no issues with power draw in this game.

Are you on Linux and did you already apply the workaround mentioned here: BUG: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle only runs at ~40% of max TDP on RTX 4090 - #55 by esullivan ?

hello dear please help me when i launch the game this window appear

NRC.vulkan.dll pleas help me how i fix it
