How to reproduce: start the Mandelbrot demo and hit ‘d’. On first try I got a completely frozen machine, on second I captured a Xid.

I have a few questions:
0) Does this problem persist if you’re not using the Coolbits option?

1. Have you verified that you’re using the most recent motherboard BIOS?
2. Does this problem persist if you remove rhgb from your GRUB configuration (and reboot)?
3. Does this problem persist if you are using the latest RHEL-5.1 kernel?
4. Its not clear whether you’re experiencing instability every time you run this app, or just occasionally?

Yes. Actually, I just have it set, I’m not “using” it, i.e. no overclocking.

I have 1.6. The latest is 1.7 which has e.g. new ACPI related bugs – I have already tried it, but not in connection with CUDA. Anyway, this board is now for more than 1 1/2 years on the market. They don’t fix bugs anymore. They just add support for newer CPUs – and introduce more bugs.

Yes.

I’ll try it when CentOS 5.1 is out.

Edit: No change with 2.6.18-53.1.4.el5

Every time. It’s completely reproducible.
