Hi, the input voltage is rated at 5V for Nano, how do you power a 6V motor with it?

Thank you. I am aware the input voltage is 5V. I want to confirm that 6V motor will not work - but can I use it without damaging my Nano if I use a step-down converter/voltage regulator?

You need to estimate that based on the power consumption of motor and the power delivery capability of 5v adapter. It has nothing directly to do with nano itself.
