For the Supermicro Grace Hopper MGX system, the Supermicro Server SKU is ARS-111GL-NHR. I would like to know if we can switch to the ARS-111GL-NHR-LCC or other Supermicro Server SKU which can support 2 GPUs? Our goal is to utilize two H100 GPUs for communication and computational tasks.
@wj_zhou
we recommended ARS-111GL-NHR which we have tested it for Aerial-based RAN. Based on the ARS-111GL-NHR-LCC spec, it should be ok to run Aerial-based RAN. If the goal is just to have the 2nd GPU, ARS-111GL-NHR can support 2nd GPU too.
Thank you for your response!
I would like to inquire further: According to the specifications, the “maximum onboard GPU” is listed as 1 unit for ARS-111GL-NHR. If a second GPU were added , would its connection to the CPU also utilize NVLink-C2C ? Are the two GPUs completely equivalent in functionality and performance during operation?
NVlink-C2C provides interconnection between Grace and Hopper on the GH superchip and the connection between two GH superchips. For the case of installing the 2nd GPU on the ARS-111GL-NHR server, the 2nd GPU will use PCIe. For GPU point of view, two GPU are the same. From the point of using 1st GPU or 2nd GPU for Aerial, the performance is expected to be different. Therefore, the 2nd GPU should be considered using other workloads instead of Aerial.
Thank you for your help!
