We plan to transmit 6-channel images over one set of MIPI C-PHY, and the corresponding VC-ID will reach 4 and 5. Is this OK with the VI module on Thor? I noticed that the current VC-ID setting in device-tree never exceed 3.
hello ekeechg,
for a SerDes/GMSL aggregator into a Jetson CSI receiver, we support up-to 4 VCs per single CSI connection,
for instance, VC0–VC3 for one aggregator.
please see-also [Jetson Virtual Channel with GMSL Camera Framework] for more details.
Hi,Jerry:
Is this due to MIPI physical layer limitations?
We are using C-PHY, and does one CSI group support a maximum of only 4 virtual channels?
I noticed MAX96712 C-PHY supports 5-bit VC-ID.

hello ekeechg,
it is limitation of Jetson camera software stack, you can works up-to 4 streams via virtual channel for one shared CSI connection.
please use only VC0~VC3 per CSI link/connection.
Got it.
