Cannot use second GPU in linux

Here’s dmesg over night from during when the screens go inactive/disconnected

Not much interesting there unfortunately.

I left for an hour. PC was still on. Monitors went to sleep

Wiggle mouse and this happens:

Only two screens from GPU-1 (Second GPU) are alive.

I fix this by re-running randr

xrandr --output DP-0 --mode 2560x1440 --pos 5120x0 --rotate normal --output DP-1 --off --output DP-2 --primary --mode 2560x1440 --pos 2560x1440 --rotate normal --output DP-3 --off --output DP-4 --mode 2560x1440 --pos 2560x0 --rotate normal --output DP-5 --off --output DP-6 --mode 2560x1440 --pos 5120x1440 --rotate normal --output DP-7 --off --output DP-1-0 --off --output DP-1-1 --off --output DP-1-2 --off --output DP-1-3 --off --output DP-1-4 --mode 2560x1440 --pos 0x1440 --rotate normal --output DP-1-5 --off --output DP-1-6 --mode 2560x1440 --pos 0x0 --rotate normal --output DP-1-7 --off

Second time today. I left for 3 hours, and come back, wiggle mouse. THis happens

Two Displays from GPU-1 (second gpu) are on the left
Two displays from GPU-0 (first gpu) are on the right,
Two have lost sync or whatever is going on

Sorry for the multiple posts. Not sure about mixing attachments in one post… maybe I’ll try that next time.

Final issue that happens regularly.

This issue is hard to explain… Here’s a video showing what’s going on… some monitors have lost sync (is what I call it), and then my mouse is ‘stuck’. I cannot move past the right third of the screen. What I am doing is moving the mouse left and right, but when i move the mouse left I drag it 1 foot across my desk, but the cursor cannot go past this imaginary line untill I run randr again to resetup the screens.

Sorry I had a conference call going on while I made the video. So I swapped out the audio.

I appreciate everyone’s help here. But I have an update…

I’ve given up on this, there’s too many things that don’t work properly despite having the latest drivers, latest Xorg… the performance is pretty bad, and it sets me back at least a half hour every time the screens ‘lose sync’ as described earlier. It looks to be random problems with power-save with the nvidia proprietary drivers. I don’t have any screen loss issues with the open source nouveau driver, but I do have other issues that make the open source driver unworkable in my use case.

I’ve moved to a 6 port AMD GPU and all these problems have gone away.
