Running a new HP ZBook 17 G2, Windows 7 Pro 64-bit SP1
w/nvidia Quadro k2200m, driver version 9.18.13.3356
nvidia control panel says version 333.56
Trying to install CUDA 6.5 SDK, I get
This graphics driver could not find compatible hardware. You may continue installation, but you will not be able to run CUDA applications.
I install anyway.
deviceQuery.exe returns “CUDA driver is insufficient for CUDA runtime”
deviceQuerydrv.exe returns
CUDA Driver Version: 6.0
CUDA Capability Major/Minor version number: 5.0
…
I think maybe I need a new driver, but on nvidia driver download page, I select Quadro >> Quadro Series (notebooks), there is no option for k2200m. I try to download k2100m driver (version 347.88) and install, but I get “NVIDIA Installer cannot continue, This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware”
CUDA 6.5 requires a 340.xx driver or newer.
Go back to the driver that was originally on your laptop. If it was 340.xx or newer, then you can install CUDA 6.5.
In that case, install the CUDA 6.5 toolkit, but deselect the option to install the driver.
Alternatively, install CUDA 7. The driver in CUDA 7 installer should recognize your K2200m.
Alternatively, install CUDA 6.0 which is compatible with the 333.56 driver currently installed.
