Caught a kernel panic after flashed with massflash method

Could somebody help me with this issue, thanks very much.

I tried l4t_backup_restore and massflash on jetson orin nano devkit with BSP r36.4.3. The rootfs is the nvidia’s minimal_sample_fs.

I finished the test by following steps:

under root dir of L4T

step1 backup
$ sudo ./tools/backup_restore/l4t_backup_restore.sh -b -c jetson-orin-nano-devkit-super

step 2 make mfi
$ sudo ./tools/kernel_flash/l4t_initrd_flash.sh --use-backup-image --no-flash --network usb0 --massflash 5 jetson-orin-nano-devkit-super internal

step 3 untar mfi tarball
change to another dir (out of L4T), then copy mfi_jetson-orin-nano-devkit-super.tar.gz, then
$ sudo tar xpvf mfi_jetson-orin-nano-devkit-super.tar.gz

step 4 flash with massflash option
cd mfi_jetson-orin-nano-devkit-super first, then
$ sudo ./tools/kernel_flash/l4t_initrd_flash.sh --flash-only --massflash 5 --network usb0

All the processes above were succeeded. But the system can not boot successfully.
Meanwhile, I can use the l4t_backup_restore.sh -r to restore, reboot and run system very weill.

Thank you David. I just tried your commands, it failed too.

I’ve found something error.
In my sdk, p15 partition lable name is ‘reserved’ as flash_l4t_t234_nvme.xml defined, but I made format into ext4 at flash script.
In l4t_backup_restore.func, convert_backup_image_to_initrd_flash() function will treat all ext4 partitions as APP, which I think is a bug.

So each time I use ‘l4t_initrd_flash.sh --flash-only --network usb0 --massflash 1’, it will overrite APP by the latest fake APP img.
@DavidDDD Do you have any suggestions if I want to fix this bug becuase I’m planning more ext4 partitions than APP only.

Sorry, I’ve fixed by myself, the old debug env is overrittend.

But you could re-produce this issue easily. The only prerequisite you shoud do is to create at least one more ext4 partition than APP.
