Conflict between AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D iGPU and NVIDIA RTX 5080 GPU

Hello Nvidia Developer Forum,

Here is my support ticket below with Nvidia. They recommended I reach out and post this into the Nvidia Forum for fixing/improving compatibility with AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D iGPU and Nvidia RTX 5080 GPU dual running on Windows 11. Win11 supports dual GPUs so its reliability and performance needs to be improved.

Please find below the summary of the entire thread.

- → Issue: Conflict between AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D iGPU and NVIDIA RTX 5080 GPU.

→ Symptoms:

  • AMD driver timeout and crash (even at idle with Chrome and Outlook open).
  • System enters safe mode after crash detection.
  • Multi‑monitor inconsistencies, idle wake/sleep instability, Windows display scheduling issues.
  • Duplicate audio device entries after GPU driver reinstall.

→ Troubleshooting done:

  • Used DDU and NVIDIA Cleanup tools for complete driver uninstall/reinstall.
  • Disabled AMD iGPU temporarily (did not resolve compatibility issue).
  • Updated BIOS (ASUS ROG STRIX X870‑A, version 2302).
  • PSU is SAMA 1200W, original GPU cables used.
  • Tested different networks and languages.
  • Tried NVIDIA Game Drivers (latest).
  • Fast startup and SysMain disabled; “Prefer Maximum Performance” enabled in NVIDIA Control Panel.
  • HAGS option enabled but greyed out (possibly due to HDR being enabled).

→ Performance observations:

  • RTX 5080 shows 100% GPU usage in Task Manager during games (normal behavior?).
  • CPU idles during GPU‑intensive and CPU-Intensive workloads.

→ Additional issues:

  • Basic Display Driver only supports one monitor when NVIDIA drivers removed (assume that is by design).
  • Duplicate audio device entries appear after clean reinstall (reset by disabling/re‑enabling).

→ Requests:

  • Assistance to make NVIDIA GPU work better with AMD iGPU simultaneously.
  • Feature/compatibility request for NVIDIA + Microsoft to improve dual GPU support.
  • Suggestion to leverage Copilot/ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini/NVIDIA Nemotron Super 3 AI models for compatibility fixes.

Hello,

Welcome to the NVIDIA Developer forums. This community serves the developer ecosystem.

Since this is a consumer issue, I think support meant for you to visit the GeForce forums.

Best regards

Sounds good I will share my post over there instead!
