ConnectX-6 with MMA2P00-AS transceiver has high TX power

Is there some special configuration that needs to be done to make sure that this NIC/transceiver is configured for 10GbE mode and doesn’t push too much power to a 10GbE transceiver on the other end of a 2M cable? This is the cable being used - https://www.provantage.com/legrand-data-33046\~7CBT90CP.htm. The 10GbE transceiver doesn’t want to see optical power above 800uW and we’re seeing over 1000uW from this NIC/transceiver combo.

The OS is Windows 11 btw.

Hello!

The MMA2P00-AS transceiver has average launch power between -8.4 to 2.4 dBm so the reading is within that range:

There is no configuration knob to change the Tx power level, you could consider an alternative transceiver in the supported list below, increase the cable length or adding an attenuator and see if that helps:

Thank you!

Some additional information. We’re only seeing the issue with rev A3/A4 transceivers, so did something change in design or firmware over time? A3 are worse than A4, generating error levels. A4 can get into warning levels, but we’ve not seen an error level yet. Rev A7/A8 work as expected.
