ConnectX-8 C8180 not support loopback -RM (Rx-to-TX)?

I’ve used loopback remote configuration in the past on CX7 (and CX6 too IIRC), so I just expected it to work for CX8 but no traffic appears to be going back out the module/cable TX lanes.

I’ve tried searching nvidia’s docs on C8180, release notes, forums etc but I don’t see anyone reporting successful usage of this config with CX8 nor anything explicitly stating that CX8 NICS do not support this loopback configuration.

I did see the note that: “Remote loopback is supported for 25G/50G per lane speed” but this seemed like it might have been written in mind for previous gen cards where the loopback RM config was not supported for lower rates (10G & lower), not higher (100G & greater per lane).

Tried reconfiguring multiple times, FW/drivers updated, FW reset.

This same server has CX7 NICs with loopback -RM working currently as well.
