Controlling automatically GTX 1660 S fans under ubuntu 18.04

I use a Gigabyte GTX 1660 S for deep learning of neural networks under Ubuntu 18.04.
When I boot the PC, fans are idle --> OK
Under heavy gpu load, fans turn on to full blow --> OK
When I come back to gpu idle (temp back to 25 degres), fans remain at full blow --> KO
When I reboot the PC, fans are back to idle --> OK

nvidia-smi reports correct temperature, but fans are always at 0% (idle or full blow)

What is the procedure for automatic control of the GTX 1660 s fans with temperature under ubuntu 18.04?
Are the two fans controllable separately?

Thanks in advance. Regards.

I have the same issue running under Windows 10 with my GTX 1660Ti. It was running at 122F - heating up my 2nd Xeon CPU, 2nd NVMe SSD, and another 8TB HDD.

I used the Auros Engine to set the fan manually to 70%. This knocked the temp down under 108 on average. It’s at a cool 94-96 right now (wow!)

I don’t know if there’s a similar utility for Linux. Hopefully there is for your sake.

Best wishes.
