Crash in debug mode / unable to debug with gdb?

I am using Isaac SDK 2019.3 on a desktop machine (Ubuntu 18.04)

I’m following the instructions reported in the manual (https://docs.nvidia.com/isaac/isaac/doc/getting_started.html?highlight=gdb) to debug an application, i.e.

bob@desktop:~/isaac$ bazel build -c dbg //apps/samples/pose_tensorrt_inference
bob@desktop:~/isaac$ gdb --args bazel-bin/engine/alice/tools/main --app apps/samples/pose_tensorrt_inference/pose_tensorrt_inference.app.json

However, when I use gdb in debug mode, I always get the same assertion failure on ALL the applications. Please note that if I compile the application in release mode, everything works, but then I have no symbols inside gdb.
I would like to know if you are experiencing the same problem too, or if it is a problem on my installation.

Here is the dump of gdb, which seems somehow related to boost::lockfree::queue

gdb --args ./bazel-bin/engine/alice/tools/main --app apps/flatsim/flatsim.app.json
