CUDA 5.5 on Windows Server 2012

Hi there

I currently try to install OpenCL on my Windows Server 2012 having a Quadro 2000 and a Tesla K20 installed (320.00-quadro-tesla-grid-winserv2008-2008r2-2012-64bit-international-whql)

After installing cuda_5.5.20_winvista_win7_win8_general_64 the OpenCL dlls are not registered (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SOFTWARE - Khronous - OpenCl)

Reinstalling with “setup -log:“c:\temp” -loglevel:6” showed a few error logs:

  1. LOG.nvvsync.exe.log
    ERROR: [Nvvsvc] 697@InstallService : Service creation failed with error code 1073.

  2. LOG.nvdxsync.exe.log
    2013-08-20 15:44:48.722 ( 1.242) | ERROR: [UXDriver.ApiX.Features.LogicalGpuWrapper] 262@Nvidia::UXDriver::ApiX::Features::SessionEventFeatures::StartNvTrayIcon : Error accessing login user registry hive class Nvidia::UXDriver::UxdException. UxdException( HResult=“0x800703f0” Function="__cdecl LoggedOnUserImpersonator::LoggedOnUserImpersonator(void)" File=“LoggedOnUserImpersonator.cpp” Line=“90” )
    2013-08-20 15:44:48.725 ( 1.245) | DEBUG: [UXDriver.ApiX.Features.LogicalGpuWrapper] 281@Nvidia::UXDriver::ApiX::Features::SessionEventFeatures::StartNvTrayIcon : Did not start the NvTray process due to regkey ’ StartOnLogin ’ being set to 0.

  3. LOG.setup.exe.log
    13.448 | ERROR: [NVI2.NVServiceAction] 469@CNVServiceAction::InvokeAction : COM error: Exception {0x80070426 - The service has not been started.; File: Service.cpp; Line: 358; WinAPI}.

Not sure if that is related, though…

However, after uninstalling and installing cuda_5.0.35_winvista_win7_win8_general_64-3 no better results.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

I suggest you to full uninstall display driver. Then install CUDA 5.5 package.

Well, right now working on that … it seems as if I can’t get rid of the oldest one as there is no uninstaller provided in the “programs and features”. Now, it’s 311.35 that remains to be sticky…

Ok, I had to clean sweep a bit the registry and might have missed something but reinstallation of cuda_5.5.20_winvista_win7_win8_general_64 gave some new errors in LOG.setup.exe.log:

ERROR: [NVI2.NVServiceAction] 810@CNVServiceAction::ControlService : Failed to open service Exception {0x80070424 - The specified service does not exist as an installed service.}.
ERROR: [NVI2.NVServiceAction] 469@CNVServiceAction::InvokeAction : COM error: Exception {0x80070424 - The specified service does not exist as an installed service.; GetLastError()}.

and some 450 secs later

ERROR: [NVI2.NVServiceAction] 469@CNVServiceAction::InvokeAction : COM error: Exception {0x80070424 - The specified service does not exist as an installed service.; GetLastError()}.

ERROR: [NVI2.NVAppPhase] 380@CNVAppPhase::InvokePhase : COM error: Exception {0x80070003 - The system cannot find the path specified.; File: FilePath.cpp; Line: 538; GetLastError()}.

ERROR: [NVI2.NVServiceAction] 469@CNVServiceAction::InvokeAction : COM error: Exception {0x80070424 - The specified service does not exist as an installed service.; GetLastError()}

ERROR: [NVI2.NVAppPhase] 708@CNVAppPhase::InvokeApp : Executable failed.

I recall that the COM object thing was crashing frequently in an earlier attempt to install the regular driver …

Hi,

I tried on my Windows Server 2012 with Quadro FX1700 and Tesla K20 installed, didn’t find the problem you mentioned above.

I recommend you to fully uninstall the display driver via device manager, reboot the system and check again whether there’s older ones exist, if yes, uninstall again. Repeat the above steps until the oldest driver is uninstalled, and then install cuda_5.5.20_winvista_win7_win8_general_x64.exe, it should be ok at that time.
