CUDA compatibility with SLI systems

I was told that having a SLI link active between two video cards on recent nVidia consumer cards (I’m specifically interested in the GTX 680/770/780/Titan) disables the ability to develop and run CUDA applications.

I am trying to confirm if this is true or not before building a new system. If it is true, is there a way to have SLI and CUDA5 side-by-side with either a PCI card, or a 3rd PCI-E card assuming your motherboard has four x8 lanes? I am not interested in performance, I just want the ability to develop on the same machine.
