CUDA gas simulation as a specialised paper topic

Hi,

I’m 16 years old and going to do the general qualification for university entrance. In Austria (where I am from) it is possible to do a specialised paper as a part of the exam. I looked through all the past projects that have been made by the other students and recognized that a CUDA app would be more complicated, may be to complicated (the other student for example, wrote a school milk administration tool, in php). So I just want to ask what you think about the project and if it is possible to get started with CUDA in about a year.

Are you reasonably proficient in the C programming language? CUDA adds a few extensions to C, so if you already know C, you are halfway there.
