CUDA slower in Windows 7 than in Windows XP same computer, two OSs, different run times

thx for your answer, I now understand the problem better. From your answer i conclude that at least there could be the possibility that the WDDM dynamically swaps in/out whole CUDA Contexts. Am i right ?

Not really! Try to minimize the number of kernel launches?

Linux and XP are approximately the same speed for launching kernels.
