I’ve recently upgraded my drivers on my Laptop with it’s 128Mb 8400M GS from 195.82 to 197.16, Both Cuda-Z and Boinc now report it having 113.582Mb,
and I’ve updated my 512Mb 9800GTX+ in my Desktop PC in Vista and Windows 7 to 197.13 and 197.25 respectively, these Both now report 495.682Mb,
on both these PC’s, CPU-Z and GPU-Z report the correct values, does anyone know what has changed in the 197.xx driver with regards to Cuda?,
It won’t matter in your case at Seti, as i know you run optimised apps with an app_info.xml, the use of it bypasses Seti’s Servers GPU Memory restriction,
allowing you to get work even if you have less total GPU memory than officially supported, but that doesn’t apply to users running Stock Cuda apps,
Collatz’s Cuda GPU memory requirement is 126Mb, (which is more than my 128Mb 8400M GS is reporting now)
while Seti’s is 254Mb for their Cuda 6.08 app, or 384Mb for their Cuda23 6.09 app, (which is why Jorge’s 256Mb GF9500M couldn’t get work when it only reports 240Mb)
loosing ~20Mb from the total reported can be the difference between getting or not getting work from a project,
but why is this happening?, is it a Bug about how the total GPU Memory is reported?, or is some of the memory being reserved?
