cudasdk_2.21_linux.run hangs on openSuSE 11.1 x64? toolikit installs fine, sdk hangs

Hello,

Installing CUDA on freshly installed, fully patched openSuSE 11.1 box, the toolkit installer ran flawlessly but the sdk installer hangs after extracting (printing all the dots).

Versions are:
cudatoolkit_2.2_linux_64_suse11.1.run
cudasdk_2.21_linux.run

FWIW the box is: E8500 cpu, ASUS G45 m/b, 2GB PC6400 ram, BFG GTX260 core 216, almost new Seagate 750GB disk, openSuSE 11.1.

Can anyone suggest a way to either make the SDK install or how I can get some diagnostic info out of the installer?
