Does Debian use lightdm for the display manager? I know there’s an ongoing bug where there’s a race condition between lightdm and X that causes a similar issue.

Yes, lightdm is the display manager. I forgot to mention that. Also the DE is XFCE which I installed with tasksel. I will try removing lightdm and reporting

Can you jump to a terminal console on VT 1 (ctrl+alt+F1) and then login and try “sudo service lightdm restart”? See if that brings up the display correctly.

Unfortunately no, and the X log reports the same error.

I also tried removing lightdm and installing slim, but still same error in the X log.

Any further idea or input? I’m kinda stuck on this.
