I’m working with a Jetson Orin NX module and need to clarify the DeepStream SDK compatibility with JetPack 6.2 and Super Mode.
I understand that DeepStream 7.1 is officially compatible with JetPack 6.1, but I want to use the new Super Mode feature introduced in JetPack 6.2. Can you confirm if DeepStream 7.1 works properly with JetPack 6.2 and Super Mode on Jetson Orin NX, beacuse we had some troubles on that version with super mode. If not, when will a compatible DeepStream version be available?
DeepStream is an application and it’s assumed to be not relevant with specific mode. Due to the higher power consumption of Super Mode, please ensure your Orin NX has adequate cooling in place. You may also describe your issue first, but very likely it need to be discussed it on the Orin NX forum.
We have been testing our pipelines on a Jetson Orin NX running JetPack 6.2 (to enable Super Mode) and DeepStream 7.1. However, we’ve encountered issues such as lagging pipelines, glitching and, at times, pipelines failing to start altogether.
We came across a related discussion that raised further uncertainty about the root cause of these problems. Notably, these issues do not occur on other Jetson Orin NX devices running JetPack 5.1.2 with the corresponding version of DeepStream.
Given this, we suspect that the problem may stem from an incompatibility between JetPack 6.2 and DeepStream 7.1. Would it be reasonable to assume that this could be the case?
We recommend JP-6.1. DeepStream-7.1 has only been fully tested on JP-6.1.
Subsequent versions of DeepStream will be based on the latest Jetpack version, such as Jetpack-7.x. We do not publish a special version of DeepStream for Jetpack-6.2.
I don’t know if it is the same machine you are working with..but the issues I was facing were related to working with a Jetson Orin Nano provided by Advantech…I arrived on that conclusion because I was able to test it on Jetson Orin Nano provided directly by NVIDIA. I hope this helps!
@daniel.gayer - Thanks for sharing that. We’re using Auvidea carrier boards for all our setups, but we don’t have access to an official NVIDIA dev kit to test against.
@junshengy - One more question: will future DeepStream versions that support newer JetPack releases also work with Jetson Orin NX and Super Mode? Or is Super Mode only going to be supported on specific modules/JetPack combinations?
Basically, are we safe to assume that when DeepStream eventually supports JetPack 7.x, it will work properly with Super Mode on Orin NX?
The MAXN SUPER is an uncapped power mode that enables the highest number of cores and clock frequency for CPU, GPU, DLA, PVA, and SOC engines. If the total module power exceeds the thermal design power (TDP) budget in this mode, the module is throttled to lower frequency, which delivers lower performance while staying within the thermal budget.
The frequency of modules such as CPU/GPU/DLA can cause performance fluctuations in deepstream; otherwise, deepstream is generally unaffected.
This question is about BSP, you can file a new topic at Orin NX forum.
