Desktop window crashed upon rebook I get a blank screen

A window had crashed so I did a reboot and not I have a blank screen upon reboot. The system is running since I can telnet into it. Everything seems to be working except no desktop/Window.

Hi,

Please help attach below logs for us to review through telnet:

  • /var/log/Xorg.0.log
  • The output of lsmod saved to a file: lsmod > lsmod.txt
  • The output of dmesg saved to a file: dmesg > dmesg.txt
  • ps aux | grep gdm3

And what is the exact thing on your monitor upon reboot? Some logs and not GUI?

When booting up the console monitor shows the nvidia logo with the message to enter escape or F11, then the screen goes blank no gui or text atl all. This is a new board that I just purchased and was working fine for several days, It is a Jetson nano Orin NX with the developers pack. Thank you for your help.

Also, I noticed that even though the Nvidia logo appears while booting when the display goes blank it says "cannot display this video mode, change display input to 1920x1080@60Hz. I hope this helps. Thank you for your support.

Hi,

Some questions to confrim.

  • Is your device a custom board or a dev kit?
  • Is your device a Orin Nano or a Nano
  • What is your JP version
    • execute below commands as share
    cat /etc/nv_tegra_release
cat /etc/nv_boot_control.conf
  • Which Nano port you connect? HDMI or DP ?
  • Please try below command and check whether issue exist
sudo modprobe nvidia-modeset

    I am using the HDMI port

      sudo modprobe nvidia-modeset

I execute this command and it just runs without any output to the screen and returns to the command prompt

As I mentioned previously the Nvidia logo does appear during the boot process then goes blank and the screen goes blank and eventually displays the following message:

“Cannot display this video mode, change computer display to 1920x1080@60Hz”

At this time, I am at a loss and cannot do anything I need to do with the machine, I really do appreciate your help!

Based on your log provided

jetson-orin-nano

It’s a Jetson Orin Nano not a Jetson Nano

Our dev kit not provide HDMI port but DP port.
Please reach out a vendor you bought to get the customized bsp to flash your device.

I have the cable that came with the kit that has an hdmi connector on one end and the DP connector on the other end. This was working until a window crashed and when rebooted the console is now blank. I get the logo during booting process. The cable and port are not the issue. Can you please help to resolve this problem. It was working fine an now I have an unusable product.
