DGX Hardware Design

Want to send warm greetings to the engineers who designed hot air flow to back side through cables to let them degrade quick. And ask if the flow can be reverted so it blow front instead?

p.s. Power button at back side is also nice decision! (no)

I hear you on this. As per the power button, there are OEMs supplying GB10 systems with a power button on the front, such as the ASUS Ascent GX10. With regard to the air flow hitting the cables positioned on the back, this may be a design choice affecting a larger number of GB10 based machines, although not all of them share the same cooling design. While I did not open the chassis of my FE to date, I wonder whether the fans can be reversed by mounting them somehow upside down, in a true hackish intervention.

You can’t, they are centrifugal blower fans.

On the power button, I would add better status LEDs in general would be a small but nice upgrade.

On the heat, if you think the ConnectX-7 QSFP ports get hot, you should see the ports on the back side of 8x GPU systems that use optics.

Lenovo’s design is my favorite; it doesn’t have any lights that strain your eyes or warn you of anything. You can just place a piece of paper in front of it to detect the airflow. With the rising prices of all components, it’s clear that LEDs are expensive.
