Bug or Error. - checked. Just like the DGX software… a bit buggy.
Has anyone done a list of the gotchas for brand new dgx ? So far i have….
- Initial installation via remote wifi connection - fail. i followed the getting started, but after the unit apparently rebooted (who knows - unbelievably, no LEDS to show status!!) I could not longer connect. Had to connect directly with KVM in the end and yes i could log on.
- Installed nvidia sync on windows 10 Pc. Tried to change hostname via DGX dashboard/settingsSystem……. and this does not work. You must go back and log on directly to the spark and change it there.
- Next up nvidia sync /AI dashboard installation failure. Its not clear that i need this on my windows PC when i am doing all the processing on the remote linux spark …but it didnt install correctly anyway, and led me down a rabbithole of WSL (already installed and working correctly), and docker desktop (was working correctly with everything else just not ai workbench) Still not resolved . So i abandoned ship as i really just want to use VS Code remote with the spark and SSh….which led me to SSH install….
- .and ssh install failed with a bunch of vs code messages that seem to indicate that ssh is not already setup on the spark and i have to connect manually again to enable the server again.
And thats where I’m at now. With the most expensive hardware i ever bought. @Nvidia support must try harder. the DGX Spark cost > 4300 Euro after all ,and you hit 5Tb$ market cap today, but Im praying for some competition. You could at least do a far better real world guide for getting this system up and running. It was supposed to be painless with everything already installed.
