Did something change with ModeLines in drivers after 349.x?

I’ve been using 349.16 on my Mint based HTPC (running mythtv). It’s been going very well but I wanted to move to a more recent kernel and 349.16 does not support newer kernel version. I’ve had my Xorg set up using the following guide:

https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/User_Manual:JudderFree

Is this still relevant with newer drivers? When using the 349.16 drivers everything is fine in my Xorg.log:

Switching to 378.13, changing nothing else (xorg.conf identical and unchanged) my modlines are invalid and removed:

Does how can I get the exact timing modes to work with the new drivers?

Thanks!

Looks like this:

Yeah, it kind of does… From looking at my xorg.log for the purposes that I need (ATSC video, DVD, Bluray) the modes it stated that validated all seem good with the exception of a 1080p. I’ll need to see if I can find a valid mode for that but still I’d like to figure out why it’s not working as it did before.
