We are planning to use JetPack 6.2.2 with L4T 36.5.0.
The expected behavior is to extend the desktop across two displays so that each display can show independent content, rather than mirrored output.
We have not tested the configuration yet, this is currently part of a pre-evaluation stage. We are trying to confirm the supported display options before selecting the carrier board.
Ideally it is supported but MST seems to be case by case when different MST chip in use.
Also notice some MST chip won’t work on Orin NX.
As a follow-up, Seeed Studio helped RidgeRun test this configuration on the reComputer Robotics J4012, based on the Jetson Orin NX 16GB.
The test used a Saikang USB Type-C DisplayPort MST hub with dual HDMI outputs. With the hub operating in Join Mode, the Jetson drove two HDMI displays simultaneously with different content on each display, rather than mirroring the same output.
This test confirms that the Jetson Orin NX is capable of providing two independent display outputs through a single DisplayPort MST connection when used with a compatible MST hub.
