Dual MIPI CSI 4 lanes cameras

Hello,

According to TegraK1 technical reference manual, dual CSI 4 lanes cameras configuration is available for stereo mode.

Could you please tell me if there is a way to use 2 CSI 4 lanes cameras not in stereo mode but for handling two independent video streams?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would like to use 2 high resolution cameras.

In technical reference manual (chapter 26.1.1), following MIPI lane configurations are listed:

  • 1*4 (Single camera with 4 lane sensor)
  • 1*4 + 1*1 (one high resolution camera and another front facing low resolution camera)
  • 2*4 (Dual cameras for stereo with up to 4 lanes for each camera)

Has anyone tried to use 2 MIPI 4-lane sensor?
What are the constraints or limitations due to stereo mode?
Can we handle 2 4-lane cameras without using stereo mode?

Yes, tk1 can support dual 4 lanes configure.

Hello ShaneCCC,

Thanks a lot for your answer.

Just one more question: do you know if stereo mode is mandatory for this configuration?

Sorry, not really understand your question.
If you need frame sync you need to handle it by yourself and need HW support.

In TegraK1 technical reference manual (chapter 26.1.1), this dual 4-lanes configuration seems to be linked to stereo mode (see my previous comment posted on February, 6th).

I wonder if this configuration can be used without any synchronisation between both cameras.

Forget the “stereo mode” I believe there’s no problem for 2 x 4 lanes connect.

Ok, thanks again for your help!
