Detailed Description

[4.897s] [ext: omni.appwindow-1.1.10] startup
[21.757s] [ext: omni.kit.renderer.core-1.1.0] startup
[187.704s] [ext: omni.kit.renderer.capture-0.0.0] startup
As you can see, time drastically jump from 4.897s to 21.757s to 187.704s. (These are three consecutive lines in log) And when omni.appwindow-1.1.10 startup, nothing happens, the whole computer freeze with only its mouse could move but no feedback from clicking. Then after about 180 seconds, the window shows up and isaac sim GUI start to run. However, if I left the GUI for some time, it will become no responding and have to force quit.

What I’ve Tried

Tried git clone installation and workstation installation, both had the same issue. Tested tensorflow.cuda, works perfectly.

The first time the app launches it has to generate the RTX shader cache, even after the app technically starts. It can take a long time. What we really need is not the first time you load it, but the startup times for 3 consecutive starts. It should go from several minutes, down to 30 seconds, down to 15 seconds on average.

How long are you leaving it before it becomes unresponsive? Mins, hrs?

Please make sure you are only running one session of kit at a time, and disable all other software. Especially if other software is using GPU resources.

the log was generated after about 10 times loading it. I tried --headless, issue still exists. No other programs were running. The isaac sim went unresponsive after about 10 minutes.

The other thing could be a very slow internet connection, or a connection with heavy restrictions on it, like an anti virus or firewall. When the application starts, it has to check each one of those extensions against the online version. The slower the connection the slower the start up.

Where in the world are you located? Are you in a restricted area?

The only other thing I can think of is other system, specs like slow, CPU and slow hard drive. Do you have a very slow hard drive? Is it an NVme or SSD?

It will be very hard to diagnosis without further information. Can you do a complete flush and try again?

The other thing you can try is to download the kit app template instead, which is the USD composer version. Try that out and see if it’s any better.

Thank you so much for your help, Richard. This issue has been solved by Vick Yu on 5 Minutes Launch every time. Quickly no responding so have to force quit · Issue #505 · isaac-sim/IsaacSim · GitHub

Ok so it looks like you had a hybrid system, with a dedicated Nvidia GPU and a built in GPU. Yes this is always a major issue. You always want to keep that built it card off.
